“VOTER AWARENESS PROGRAM”
1.GOAL:-
To create a positive growth in people's attitude towards politics by raising awareness about voting. * To inculcate intimacy about democratic governance among students* To create social awareness among students * Raising voter awareness among the people through voter rallies * Creating social cohesion and unity among the people through voter awareness
2.THECONTEXT:-
Voter Awareness Day’ is celebrated every year under the coordination of Department of Political Science in the college. The College and the Department of Political Science organizes various activities keeping in view the importance of this day. These include conducting voter awareness rally, conducting voter surveys, conducting lectures, registering voters, etc.
3.THEPRACTICE:-
Sri P.RAJU Head _ Department of Political Science, keep students engaged responsible citizens by counselling about voting awareness throughout the academic year. Students are also informed about the role of elections in democracy and its importance .The lectures are organized and the students are guided on how to be responsible citizen of the society
4.EVIDENCEOFSUCCESS:-
The voter awareness program organized by the Department of Political Science has created awareness among the students as well as the people of the community about voting.Through this program, people became aware of the importance of voting for the success of democracy. Due to this initiative of the Department of Political Science, the number of voters increased in the neighbourhood by 05 percent.Many of the fist voters who coud not register themselves contacted the department for getting registered and the colleague from the department as well as some volunteers from the department of Political science helped and guided such people for registering themselves.
5.PROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDANDRESOURCES REQUIRED:-
The program undertaken by the Department of Political Science had to face some problems. The indifference of the people towards the polls is strongly felt in this place. Such problems are mainly faced when planning polling surveys or voter registration activities. Since the college is surrounded by illiterate society, initially they showed reluctance in registering themselves and could not understand the value of vote. After counselling the could understand it value.
